You can now listen to your favourite books written by your favourite authors without the need to even turn a page – that is bonkers. These audio books are often available online, with free downloads. I use this as a way of checking out new authors and to re-read my favourite books of the past. The whole audio book industry has gone through a massive amount of changes over the last two or three decades.
I do not sell audio books myself; I provide training for foster carers, I sell composite doors and I also work for a solicitor who helps people who have been caught speeding.
First available on cassette tapes, the literary publishing giants were slow to release many new books. Once the demand grew, a very large percentage of books are available as an audio book, as well as in print. With the technology now available to download these free audio books onto an MP3 player or an iPod, or even your home computer, this section of the publishing business has grown by leaps and bounds. Many of today’s authors are finding it easier to publish their book as an audio book, than to even get it in print.
Today’s technological advance will give way to tomorrow’s. In the near future it may even be possible to listen to one of our favourite audio books by purely talking to our p.c or laptop. For now, though, we need to settle for researching the best free audio book download websites and locating what we are interested in.
This is pretty simple to do. Search the Internet for “free audio book” or “free audio books download”. This is most certainly an expanding area and there are now many many sites who offer free audio books to download. You can also download certain audio books without having to spend any money at some of the “pay sites”, however they may ask you to become a member to start with. Some will require credit card information while others may offer a direct download. Keep your information secure however, and check out the site before releasing your personal information.
